A barcode didn't scan — what now?

Some products aren't in the public database yet. Add the item by hand: tap add, give it a name, and set the expiry with the quick-pick chips.

The printed date is too small to read.

You don't have to read it. Set the date with one tap — three days, a week, two weeks, a month, three months or a year — or pick an exact date. When the print is clear, Custoda can read it with the camera; always check the result against the label.

How do allergen warnings work?

Add what you avoid to your profile. When you scan, Custoda checks the product's ingredients and flags matches. If the data is incomplete it says 'unverified' rather than guessing.

Why does it say 'unverified' instead of 'safe'?

Because ingredient data is sometimes missing or partial, and telling you something is safe when we can't be sure would be dangerous. Custoda only ever confirms a match, never absence of risk. Always check the packaging.

Do reminders work offline?

Yes. Reminders are scheduled on your device and don't need a connection.

How does the trial work, and what's in the unlock?

For your first 7 days you can use every feature with up to 20 stored items. After the trial you can keep up to 5 items and 3 avoid-list entries free, and warnings for everything on your avoid list are always shown. The one-time unlock adds diets, unlimited items and avoid-list entries, expiry reminders, household sharing (shared list, shared pantry and dinner vote) and recipe sharing. There is no subscription. Already bought it on another device? Use Restore purchase in Settings.

How do I share with my household?

Open the Family list and choose Invite family. Custoda sends a private iCloud invitation, so everyone needs to be signed in to iCloud. Members share one shopping list and can suggest recipes and vote on dinner. Sharing food from your inventory is off by default: turn on "Share selected food with family" and choose which items to share. Your allergen and diet profile is never shared.

Can I track things that aren't food?

Yes. Medicines, toiletries and household supplies live in the same inventory, and you can save replace-by dates for smoke alarms, carbon-monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers and first-aid supplies.
