Expiry tracking & allergen warnings, on your device
Your shelf, your avoid list and your reminders stay on your device — we can't see them, access them, or share them. Two optional features sync a little data through your own iCloud (see iCloud Sync below), but never your avoid list or any health-related data.
All data is encrypted via iOS storage when your device locks.
Two features are off until you turn them on, and use Apple's iCloud so your data follows you across your devices:
Everything else stays on your device.
When you scan a barcode, Custoda may request public product information from a third-party product database. That request contains only the barcode number — no identity and no account. Results are cached on your device so repeat scans work offline.
The camera is used only to scan barcodes and read printed dates, entirely on-device. Images are never stored or transmitted.
All payments are processed by the Apple App Store. No financial details reach Custoda.
Expiry reminders are local and device-side. No server is involved.
Delete individual items in the app, or uninstall Custoda to remove everything.
Product data comes from Open Food Facts contributors (ODbL). Some medicine data comes from the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM); NLM does not endorse this product.
Custoda helps you track expiry and flags ingredients you've told it to avoid. It does not guarantee a product is safe — always check the packaging and consult a pharmacist or doctor.
