How does PingNear decide what to show me?

PingNear ranks nearby places and activities based on several factors: the time of day, current weather, how close you are, how popular the place is, and how recently it was reviewed. Morning results favour breakfast spots. Rainy afternoons favour indoor activities. The ranking updates every time you refresh.

Is PingNear free?

Yes. PingNear is completely free to use. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no premium tiers.

Why does PingNear need my location?

PingNear uses your location to find restaurants and activities near you. Without location access, you can still search manually by entering a city or address in settings.

Can I use PingNear without location permission?

Yes. Go to Settings and set a manual location by searching for a city. PingNear will use that location for all searches.

How does booking work?

When you tap Reserve or Book, PingNear opens the booking provider's website in an in-app browser. PingNear does not process payments directly — the booking is handled entirely by the provider (OpenTable, TheFork, Viator, etc.).

What is community voting?

Community voting lets users approve or disapprove of places. Votes are anonymous and help surface the best spots. Places with many downvotes are hidden from the main feed but can still be found via search.

What is Trip Mode?

Trip Mode tells PingNear you are travelling. It adjusts suggestions to favour experiences and attractions visitors typically enjoy, rather than everyday local spots.

How do I delete my data?

Uninstall the app. All favourites, preferences, and cached data are stored locally and are permanently deleted when the app is removed.
